PreK 4 Curriculum

  • Social Studies
    • Identify rules in the classroom and school environment
    • Describe family members and their contribution
    • Discuss community helpers and their roles of importance within our community
    • Discuss significant events (EX: Martin Luther King, Jr, President’s Day, Memorial Day, Veteran’s Day, Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas)
    • Recite the Pledge of Allegiance
    • Identify symbols and traditions that are American
    • Identify the sequence of the days of the week and the months of the year
  • Religion
    • Weekly units from Stories of God’s Love curriculum

    • AlphaTales book series incorporated for the letter of the week to introduce beginning sounds
    • New letter taught each week and weekly crafts, projects and daily work are based on the letter sound
    • Identify uppercase letters and some lowercase letters
    • Identify and write name beginning with a capital letter followed by lowercase letters
    • Listen attentively to grade level stories, discuss and retell events
    • Recognize the sequence of stories (beginning, middle and end)
    • Identify words that rhyme 
    • Speak in complete, coherent sentences
    • Weekly homework based on the letter of the week
  • Science
    • Hands on experiments integrated into weekly lessons
    • My Big World: Scholastic News leaflets used as supplemental activities for seasonal and theme related units
    • Know the seasons of the year- identify and graph daily and seasonal weather
    • Know the life cycle of a butterfly
    • Appreciate the role and importance of the five senses 
    • Recognize and appreciate basic dental health procedures
  • Math
    • Count from 1-20
    • Identify numbers 1-10 
    • Copy and create patterns with colors and shapes
    • Recognize principal geometric shapes
    • Sort and classify objects by color, shape and size
    • Understand adding or taking away one or more objects from a group will increase or decrease the initial group
    Fine Motor Skills
    • Learning Without Tears curriculum used to introduce pre-writing skills
    • Multi-Sensory activities to build fine motor skills daily
