How to Volunteer
1. Register for and attend VIRTUS training
About VIRTUS
The Mission: To educate and empower everyone (individually and collectively) to ensure optimal safe environments for children and the vulnerable.
- It is a program designed to help prevent wrongdoing and promote "rightdoing" within organizations. The VIRTUS program empowers organizations and people to take action as safe adults and improve the lives of everyone with whom they interact within the Church, school and other organizations.
As required by the Diocese of Bridgeport, anyone who wishes to volunteer in the school or parish must be VIRTUS compliant, which is acquired through Safe Environment training (referred to as VIRTUS Training). This includes any and all volunteers in the classroom, at school functions, coaches, field trip chaperones, etc.
To register for an upcoming session, use the link below. Sessions are offered both in-person and remotely. It is best to do your training well in advance. Upon completion of training, your certification is valid for 5-years.
2. Let us know how you want to get involved
- View our list of Fundraising and Social Activities and decide what you would like to be a part of. Submit your volunteer form to the HSA and a member of the Executive Board will be in touch with you.
- There is a great need daily for Lunch parents. Teachers (and students!) rely greatly on parent volunteers for Lunch Duty. It is a once a week commitment from 11:10am - 12:00pm. Any time you can give is greatly appreciated!
